Mammoth received over 55 inches from the past storm and has all lifts running! With a current base of 60 inches, the conditions are unbelievable! Packed powder runs are waiting for you to enjoy them. Mammoth just announced the opening of Jibs Galore which brings the total to seven terrain parks.

20 Million In Ski Season Improvements This Year at Mammoth!

Mammoth Mountain has a lot to offer this 2011/2012 ski season! These changes include the ability to access the slopes faster, a new high-speed quad, a wider range of cities to fly from, new culinary experiences, and a snow park that the whole family can enjoy!

The new high-speed quad will be replacing the fixed-grip triple chair 5, allowing 2,400 people up the hill per hour!  This will be a great place to be on powder days!

Looking to fly to Mammoth? United will be offering San Diego and Orange County resident’s access to Mammoth Yosemite Airport. United is also expanding service from San Francisco International Airport to Mammoth Lakes with a second flight from Friday – Monday.

The new flights will depart daily throughout the winter from San Diego and four days per week from Orange County (Friday – Monday). In addition, air service to and from San Francisco now includes additional Friday – Monday flight service to complement the daily flight service already in existence.

“With nearly $20 million in resort improvements for the coming season, we are continuing to look for innovative ways to excite our guests and allow them to enjoy the best skiing and riding experience anywhere.”, said Howard Pickett, Chief Marketing Officer for Mammoth Mountain Ski Area.

The Leaves Are Changing Colors!

Fall is absolutely beautiful in Mammoth Lakes! The fall leaves are changing each day and creating a breath taking scenery! The leaves turn a vibrant red, orange and yellow from September-November. The crisp cool air of Fall is perfect for day hikes to check out these sights.

The best places to see the changes are:

The Mammoth Lakes Scenic Loop- The scenic loop road is located off of Hwy. 203 as it winds to Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, and brings you out on Hwy.395 about 5 miles north of Mammoth Lakes.

The Reds Meadow area- Reds Meadow is located past Mammoth Mountain. You will be able to see Devils Postpile National Monument, Rainbow Falls and the San Joaquin River. 

June Lake- June Lake is located 20 miles north of Mammoth Lakes off Hwy 395.
This drive is amazing any time of year, but fall colors make this route especially enjoyable. Follow Hwy 395 north to the south junction of Hwy 158. 

Lee Vining Canyon- This Canyon is located 35 miles north of Mammoth Lakes Take Hwy 395 to the Tioga Pass/Yosemite National Park turnoff Hwy 120, incredible views of the canyon’s fall colors.

Convict Lake- This Lake is located 10 miles south of Mammoth Lakes off Hwy 395. The spectacular views the majestic mountain peaks will offer a great setting for the fall colors.

Rock Creek Canyon- Rock Creek is located 20 miles south of Mammoth Lakes off Hwy 395. Rock Creek is a beautiful, glacier-carved canyon, just off Hwy 395 at Tom’s Place.

Labor Day in Mammoth Lakes!

Come up and enjoy the fun this Labor Day in Mammoth Lakes.  Mammoth will be celebrating their 42nd Annual Labor Day Arts Festival. There will be over 100 artists and contemporary craftsmen presenting their work at Mammoth Lakes’ Labor Day Arts Festival. The event is located at Sam’s Wood Site on Minaret Rd. from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. on Sat. and Sun. and from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm on Sun.

This event is for the whole family to enjoy! There will be FREE live entertainment for kids, blue grass band, soft jazz, art activities and more.
